“I used to get people from Google all the time — now, nothing.”
That’s what Tiffany of Jackson Signature Photography told me when she first reached out for help with her website’s SEO.
If you’ve ever felt that sinking feeling when inquiries slow down — even though you’re doing everything right — updating your portfolio, posting on social media, and pouring your heart into client work — you know exactly where she was.
This is the story of how I helped Tiffany’s website get back on Google’s radar and in front of her dream clients.
From the moment Tiffany reached out on Threads, I knew she was going to be a dream client.
For starters, she’s an incredibly talented photographer.
After more than eighteen years in business, Tiffany has honed a timeless, romantic style that is truly stunning. She creates the kind of images that feel effortless, but can only come from years of experience, intuition, and heart.
And as someone who’s deeply passionate about helping talented wedding professionals get found by their dream clients online — because I believe your work deserves to be seen and your dream couples deserve to find you! — I was instantly fired up to help her get back on Google’s radar.
Beyond her artistry, Tiffany is just one of those people you can’t help but enjoy talking to.
Our discovery call went way longer than planned (in the best way) because we got lost chatting about all the things — why she wanted SEO, what hadn’t worked in the past, the blessings and challenges of running businesses while raising babies, and how our shared faith shapes the way we both approach work and motherhood.
And of course, I can’t describe Tiffany without mentioning her southern charm! She has a sweet way of speaking that’s so endearing, and I love how her “southern-isms” slipped into conversation so naturally. I could listen to her accent all day! (In comparison, I feel incredibly uncultured with my Midwest accent, lol.) It’s easy to see how Tiffany’s clients feel such ease in her presence.
“I used to get people from Google all the time – now, nothing.”
That’s what Tiffany told me during our discovery call. She had been getting inquiries periodically from search — especially through image search — but lately things had gone quiet. She wanted to understand why — and more importantly, what could be done to turn that around.
Tiffany also runs a wedding planning company, and she told me she often hears from those clients, “If only I had found you for my photographer, too!” 😭
Translation: Tiffany’s dream couples are out there — they just aren’t finding her online.
“I feel like I’m stuck between the budget brides and my ideal clients.”
Tiffany wanted her business to be seen again — and not by just anyone searching online, but by the right couples. Specifically, she hoped to show up in the Pittsburgh wedding scene and to expand her visibility into Ohio wine country and West Virginia — areas filled with the kind of venues her ideal brides will be looking at.
Tiffany’s photography style is already perfectly suited for elegant, higher end wedding venues. But she was finding herself stuck between two markets — too high-end for local barn weddings, yet not visible enough online to reach couples in the bigger metropolitan areas with her favorite venues.
We talked through Tiffany’s goals in detail — ranking for search terms like “Pittsburgh wedding photographer,” getting her images to appear when couples search specific venues, and connecting with more perfect-fit couples she adores working with.
By the end of our call, I had a clear mission: to help Tiffany’s website not only get found again on Google, but to attract dream clients who love her style and see the value of her service.
But before we get into the SEO issues, let’s talk about her mobile site
First, I want to say — Tiffany’s website is lovely. She has a soft, graceful design that is well-suited for her brand. And of course, I have a soft spot for the navy blue in her branding!
But when I pulled up her website from my phone, a few issues stood out right away. Text overlapped in lots of areas, making it impossible to read. And a few images were clearly misplaced and covering up other content.
This kind of thing is (unfortunately) super common when wedding professionals start from a template. You replace the template’s placeholder text with your own — which is often longer than theirs — and you don’t realize it’s getting cut off on mobile. Or you add a new image, position it perfectly on desktop, but forget to adjust it for mobile… and suddenly, that new image covers up the paragraph you just worked so hard to write.
We tend to focus so much on how our websites look on desktop that we forget about mobile — so it’s easy to miss issues like this. I mean that — even web designers like me are guilty of it from time to time! It literally happens to everyone, so no judgement here!
(This is actually one reason why I offer website template customization — my clients get the benefit of working with a designer at a lower investment than designing a custom website from scratch.)
So here’s how this ties back to SEO: while SEO helps your website get discovered and clicked in search, your design is what keeps visitors there. Couples won’t stick around if the mobile experience is a jumble of overlapping text and misplaced images.
Before diving into Tiffany’s SEO, I first made sure her website looked and functioned beautifully across every device.
Once everything was running smoothly, it was time to dig into the next layer:
The SEO issues: Why Tiffany’s website was invisible in search
Once her mobile design was cleaned up and inviting again, I was ready to look beneath the surface at her SEO.
Right away, I noticed a few things quietly working against her visibility:
⚠️ Several pages had multiple H1 heading tags, which is like giving a book two titles. It makes it harder for search engines to know what the main topic actually is.
⚠️ Her most important pages weren’t optimized for the search terms she wanted to rank for.
⚠️ Her blog also wasn’t optimized, so her posts weren’t showing up when couples searched.
⚠️ I also found dozens of broken links, mostly from older blog URLs that had changed structure over the years.
The SEO Plan: Getting Tiffany Found in Search Again
Here’s a look at what we tackled during Tiffany’s Search Engine Optimization project to help her start getting found in search again:
✅ Keyword research and strategy for her core pages — Home, About, Weddings, Portraits, and Seniors — so each one clearly targets the right audience and search intent.
✅ Created new landing pages to expand her visibility into regions where she wanted to photograph more weddings.
✅ Organized headings so Google (and real couples!) could easily follow what each section was about.
✅ Optimized five blog posts filled with real wedding stories and tips for brides-to-be, helping them to show up in search and bring a steady stream of traffic to her site.
✅ Fixed 85+ broken links and redirected them correctly so she wouldn’t lose interested couples to error pages.
✅ Search performance review – analyzed her Google Search Console and Google Analytics data to assess how her site was performing in search and identify new opportunities to improve visibility.
✅ Local SEO Audit – reviewed her Google Business Profile to strengthen visibility in local searches and ensure her business shows up accurately when couples search nearby.
By the end of this phase, Tiffany’s site had a clear backend structure that search engines could easily understand — and, more importantly, that couples could actually find.
How I Made SEO Feel Simple for Tiffany
Transparency around WHAT I was doing and WHY
The tricky thing about SEO is that so much of the work takes place behind the scenes — unlike website design, where you end the process with something beautiful you can actually see.).
That means hiring someone for SEO takes a lot of trust: trust that they understand your goals, and that they’re actually making an impact on your visibility.
I believe SEO works best when my clients feel in the know, not left in the dark. 🫶🏼
That’s why I make a point to be transparent every step of the way. I want my clients to feel confident that real strategy and care is going into their site. And if they’re the “teach me how to fish” type like Tiffany, I want them to feel capable of growing their visibility long after our project wraps.
Throughout our project, I shared regular updates with Tiffany about what I was doing, why it mattered, and how she could continue building on it.
Sharing resources for her to continue our SEO work
By the end, she walked away with more than just an optimized website — she had the tools and confidence to continue growing her SEO:
✨ An SEO Keyword Tracker containing a master list of optimized keywords for her website and blog pages, all organized in one place
✨ My Wedding Pro Blogging Guide packed with simple, proven strategies to help you write blog posts that actually get found in search
✨ A Google Business Profile Audit with personalized recommendations to strengthen her presence in local search results.
✨ 17 additional keywords to inspire future blog posts
✨ A clear roadmap for maintaining and building her SEO momentum
The Results? Tiffany’s Website is Showing up in Search!
Within just a few weeks of completing her SEO project, Tiffany’s visibility in search started to climb — and she began seeing real, measurable results.
Here’s how her website is performing now:
✨ She’s ranking on page 1 of Google for at least 19 keywords, including “Pittsburgh wedding photographer” (the one she specifically wanted to get found for!)
✨ She’s ranking on page 2 for another 28+ keywords
✨ Her website is steadily increasing in overall visibility, showing up more often when couples search for her services and favorite venues.
That’s the part I love most — helping talented wedding professionals like Tiffany show up in search and get noticed for the incredible work they’re already doing. Because when your website works behind the scenes to help you get found by your dream couples, you can show up online with confidence and feel proud of the business you’ve built.
My Favorite “Aha!” Moments Working with Tiffany
One of my favorite parts of this project was seeing Tiffany’s excitement as things started to click into place — those little “aha!” moments when she could see her site starting to work for her again.
Here are just a few of the messages she sent during our time together:

“SEO help had been on my to-do list for years and I’m so grateful I found you! Thank you for all your help, organization, and little extras to educate me while bringing order to my mess!”
“I’ve been working on new blog posts and following the tips in your guide like a good student — and I’m already seeing improvements. YAY!!!”
